Welcome to Troop 641! We are a 2018 Journey to Excellence Gold Award Unit!

Welcome to the Troop 641 Web site.  Troop 641 was founded at Walker Chapel United Methodist Church 90 years ago.  The troop was re-formed after a thirty-five year hiatus through the dramatic expansion of Scouting in North Arlington and now meets at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on North Glebe Road in Arlington.  We are a Scout-led troop that values most of all fun activities and the ability to grow, but also combines mentorship from the leaders, moral development of our Scouts, service to our community, and pride in achievement and development.  All appropriately aged boys are welcome to join the Troop, and parents are expected to be active supporters of Troop activities.  If you are a member, please log in.  If not, please use the Contact Us link to find out more information or request access to the Web site to learn about our Troop and consider joining.

Troop 641 has won the Olmsted Honor Oar as Best Troop in Camp at Goshen three times!

Posted on Apr 11 2024 - 1:21pm
Saturday morning we will meet at the church parking lot at 9:00 AM for a short day hike.  The total distance is just over four miles.  I walked it with my daughter and our dog Sunday afternoon and we completed it in just over two hours.  The route we will take is to cross Glebe Road, walk down Old Military Road to the trail entrance above Chain Bridge. We will hike across Chain Bridge, down to the C&O Canal towpath and turn left to the first canal lock. That is just over two miles. We will then turn around and walk back.

Scouts should review their rank advancement requirements to see which tasks they can complete: plant identification, animal signs, etc.

To get Scouts started on preparing for backpacking, every Scout needs to bring a day pack with the following BSA Scout Basic Essentials recommended for day hiking:
